June - July Review

With the wider MOD going quite during the election period, we are now back and have a lot to catch you all up on.

As the UK rolled into summer (well the calendar said so even if the weather disagreed) the RAF Classic Racing Team have been busy racing all of the British Isles. We had two rounds for the CRMC and GP Originals but of course we cant forget that at the end of May (just after publishing our May updater) Andrew Green returned to the Isle of Man for the Pre TT. The wider RAFMSA were also out in force with 2 rounds for the No Limits team, F2 sidecar action supporting BSB and more road racing from Joe Woodward, Andy Castle, Rad Hughes and Jack Russel on the island, NW200 and at Oliver's Mount.

CRMC Croft

Serving members Mike Burke and Ben Murfin were out on track with veterans Symon Woodward and  Adrian Shaw. Joe Woodward and Živilė Žukauskaitė were also on track with John Walton in support. Despite damp conditions, there was plenty of dry racing to be had with Murf, thanks in no small amount to a decent amount of attrition, sneaking his first podium finish.

CRMC Cadwell park

A larger team hit Cadwell with serving members Mike Burke, Gavin Heggs and Ben Murfin out on track with veterans Symon Woodward, Andrew Green and  Adrian Shaw. Joe Woodward and Živilė Žukauskaitė were also on track with John Walton and Roy Dale in support. Also out on track was John Hannaford. Although he likes to keep to himself, he is an ex-RAFMSA racer and former RAF photographer so well worth dropping in with the gang.

GP Originals

GP Originals were are Pembray at the end of May then onto Brands hatch in June where Andrew Green and Dorian Eardley were racing with the support of Roy Dale.
Some good results were had by both but high speed low side for Dorian resulted in a damaged bike and rider putting them both out of action.

Isle of Man Pre TT

Andrew Green returned to the island with his Honda K4 for another bash at the pre TT. Despite a promising qualifying, the race didn't go as planned. In his own words:
"Some pics from the weekend. Race didn't goto plan with a DNF. Will need engine out to find out the problem, felt like a seize. Happened on way into Ballabeg corner where I parked it up. The ladies at the local church supplied me with a cup of tea to perk me up.
Big thank you to Roy Dale and Tom Flynn for the support this week. Lisa Green and the boys for putting up with me disappearing to go racing. Mark Hutchinson for hosting the 3 of us for the week. "
